Frequently Asked Questions

Price & Unlock

Is Cornhole Kings free?

Yes, it's free to download and try. The Prologue and Chapter 1 are completely free. To keep going past Chapter 1, you unlock the rest of the story with a one-time in-app purchase of $1.99.

What does the $1.99 unlock?

It opens every chapter after Chapter 1, so you can play the story all the way through to the long walk home. It's one purchase, not one per chapter.

Are there ads or subscriptions?

No ads and no subscriptions. The one in-app purchase is the $1.99 unlock, and that's the only thing you'll ever be asked to buy.

I reinstalled the game or got a new device. Do I have to buy it again?

No. Your purchase belongs to your Apple ID. Sign in with the same Apple ID on your new device and use Restore Purchases in the game to get your unlock back.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and request one there.

Playing

How do I throw a bean bag?

Pull back inside the throw circle, then flip forward. A gentle flip is a toss, and a harder flip is a drive. Vovo teaches it to you in the Prologue, and each match has a few tips along the way.

I forgot the controls. Can I see them again?

Tap the ? (HELP) button any time. It pauses the game and replays that scene's how-to-play tips.

I keep losing. Help!

Don't sweat it. The game goes easier on you the more you retry a scene, with wider timing windows, slower enemies and shorter retry intros. Rematches never get harder.

What is Courage?

Courage is Jack's emotional meter. Hesitation and embarrassment drain it, and brave moments fill it. In action scenes, hearts are what keep him in the game.

Is there anything besides the story?

Yes. Quick Play lets you play one cornhole match on its own, either two players passing the device or one player against characters from the story. Opponents open up as you beat them in the story. There's also a chapter select so you can replay any game you've already reached.

Is the story really true?

Partially. Meriden, Connecticut, the summer of 1988, and a lot of bean bags are real. We're not telling you which parts.

Devices & Saves

What devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. The game plays in landscape.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. Cornhole Kings plays fully offline. The only time it needs a connection is to buy or restore the unlock through the App Store.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, automatically, on your device. There's no cloud sync, so if you delete the game, your saved progress goes with it. Your purchase is safe, though, because Apple keeps track of it for you.

Can I use my iPhone as a controller for my iPad?

Yes. Open the game on both devices, then on the iPhone go to Options and tap Use as iPad Controller. The two devices find each other over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth with no pairing codes, and the iPhone becomes a gamepad with a D-pad, A and B buttons, and HELP and PAUSE. iOS may ask for Local Network permission the first time. The game only uses it to talk between your own devices, and nothing is sent over the internet.

The short version

  • Cornhole Kings does not collect, store or share any personal information about you.
  • No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
  • Your game progress stays on your device.
  • Purchases are handled entirely by Apple.

This policy covers the Cornhole Kings 1988 app for iPhone and iPad ("the game") and this website. "We" means the developer of the game.

What the game stores on your device

To remember where you left off, the game saves things like your story progress, which chapters and games you've reached, your hearts and Courage, special bags you've earned, and scene scores. This is stored on your device only. We can't see it, and it isn't uploaded anywhere. Deleting the game deletes this data.

What we collect

Nothing. The game has no sign-in, and it doesn't ask for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. It doesn't contain advertising or analytics software, and it doesn't use any third-party tracking.

In-app purchases

Chapters beyond Chapter 1 are unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase. The purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details, name or Apple ID. Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated sales reports (for example, how many unlocks were purchased in a month), which don't identify you. Apple's handling of your data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Local network (iPhone as an iPad controller)

The game can let an iPhone act as a game controller for an iPad. To do this, iOS asks permission for the game to use your local network. It's used only to connect your own devices to each other, over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This traffic doesn't go over the internet, and we don't receive or record it. You can turn off the permission at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.

Children's privacy

Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we also collect none from children. The game is a nostalgic kid adventure meant for a general audience.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. To display its fonts, pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers and Google may receive your IP address as part of that request. See Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle it.

Your choices

You're in control. To erase everything the game has saved, delete the game from your device. To manage the Local Network permission, use your device's Settings. To manage or cancel purchases, use your Apple ID settings or contact Apple.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the game handles data, for example by adding a feature that needs an account, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships.
